Shameless Plug & New Job

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

So I did what I said in my last post - I found another job. The bar was fun, don’t get me wrong. But to cut my hours back so much just to train a new girl. I wasn’t going to take that. And what makes it even worse is that this girl didn’t show up, so they asked me to cover her hours (which were actually MY hours). Yeah - right. I told them exactly where to stick that job. I’m working in another bar now on a much higher wage with better hours and more respect from other staff. Excellent!

So I plugged VERITY lots up there. I’m hoping to recruit more new members. We’re starting to grow a little more rapidly now and activity is doing well. There are many contests for cash/domain prizes open at the moment and the members are amazing. Just take a look - see what you think!

I’ve been adding content regularly over the past few weeks. My mum bought me a new laptop for Christmas (I know - another computer!) so I need to get all my programs back before I can do much for content. A few new articles are up though. I’ll be focusing mainly just on the tutorials when everything is back to normal with the computer. Just until there’s a nice selection up.

No offence, but…

Monday, November 26th, 2007

It really irritates me when people use this line. “No offence, but…” - which is always finished with a rather insulting statement. “No offence, but I really don’t think you should wear your hair like that. It makes you look like an alien.” For example…

If you don’t want to offend someone - keep your damn mouth shut! Otherwise, don’t use that line.

At work my manager came over. “Laura can I talk to you?” I was like.. hmmm. So I went over to the office and he says, “No offence Laura, but you need to take it easy on serving customers. Others are left behind.”

Um hello? Is the whole point of being a barmaid not to serve as many people as possible? With 950 people through the doors on an average night and only 6 bar staff, I think I need to work fast. But sure - I’ll take the step back and leave everyone else to it. Lets see how fucked you are then - when people aren’t being served and are walking out in a negative mood.

And not only that - they cut my hours from 60 to 15 next week so that they could spend my time fitting in a new girl who needs “plenty of practice”. Right, how does it make it fair to cut my hours then? Just because she doesn’t have a clue - doesn’t mean I should have to lose money for rent and my car, etc.

I told them exactly what I thought of them doing that. And I’ve got myself an interview for another job tomorrow. If I get it - I won’t hesitate to start. Fuck this job now. All my manager thinks about is himself, short skirts and one night stands.

Fine by me. Fuckers.

New job, new laptop

Monday, November 19th, 2007

So I found another job in a pub/club right in the town centre. It’s the sort of club people go to before hitting one of the bigger ones, so we aren’t normally overly busy all through the night, just for a few hours between around 8 and 11. I do dayshifts too, serving food and such. They’ve got me on around 50+ hours each week, which is ideal really. Exactly what I need. I’m enjoying myself though it can be very tiring and demanding. I don’t get a lot of time to myself anymore. Or a social life for that matter.

My mum gave me my Christmas present early yesterday. A new laptop - much much nicer than the one I had before. Hopefully this one won’t get stolen from my house. Though this new place is much nicer and the area is a lot quieter and more secure so I’m sure everything will be alright.

I’m lucky to have found this job, really. With rent coming up at the end of this week and debts falling out of my ass - I couldn’t afford to be jobless for long. Let’s hope this one will last - haha.

Upgrade / Renew

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

So I’ve renewed the domain for another year. Although I’ve had Dusted Petals for a few years now - I’m resetting the counter and all stats to start over with a WP upgrade and content renovation. I’ve arranged all the menus again - cut some content and will be adding a LOT over this week.

In other news, since the incident with my supposed best friend - I’ve had a lot of problems. Because of what happened I lost my job (apparantly it didn’t promote a professional work standard to be beaten up by a boy - how fair), probably can’t afford my car insurance this month and will lose the house in 18 days unless I can find something else.

So obviously, I’m on a huge job hunt. Apart from that, not much else is happening right now. My mum recently brought me back a lot of designer gear and presents from holiday - including a Gucci bag. That’s probably the most exciting going on in weeks, for me! Well.. in a positive way, anyway.

My life used to be so interesting to blog about - now all I do is moan, ha ha.
