Wireless + Sky Broadband = GAY

Okay seriously. I’m really pissed about Verity but I can’t do anything about it because the internet connection in this house is so terrible. I can connect for like 5 minutes and then it’ll be straight off again. It’s wireless and the signal is just awful. I really think it’s something to do with the router though, my dad’s desktop is connected through an actual cable instead of wireless and he still has major problems. It shouldn’t be like that in an area like this so I really don’t know what’s going on. But either way, it means I’m seriously restricted in the internet-use department which means any hopes of uploading the files to re-install Verity are out the window. I’ll try my best but there’s not much I can do when this is happening. Sorry.. 
As for other news.. Working with my dad sucks and his rules and driving me wild. I’m off into Kingston tomorrow to find a job without him dragging me around working for him, sat in his poxy van all day. But the rules of this house are seriously making me angry. I’m not allowed to work in a bar or nightclub (as you know I absolutely ADORE bar work and wanted to get into Bar Management) but he says no because “You’re an attractive girl Laura and men will only cause you trouble” Oh thanks Dad, thanks for patronising me and treating me like I’m just out of school. I started working full time 3 years ago, I’m 19 years old going on 20, I’ve been working in bars for over a year and someone like YOU who hasn’t been in my life for the past 16 years can quite frankly PISS OFF.
Then there’s the boy factor. Sure I’m happy to be single for some time considering the hassle they’ve caused me the past few years. But seriously. No dates, no boyfriends, no flirting. What the FUCK? Okay so if someone wants to flirt at work I have to say “Gosh tehehe, I’d love to say something kinky and flirtacious back but gee my daddy dearest might just hear me so I’ll walk away now, bye!”
IDTS father. Get stuffed.
But in lighter news, I will have my own front door on Thursday and then I’m having a kitchenette put in. Along with the shower and toilet, I’ll then be completely self-contained and only use the main house for my washing and the occasional dinner. Apart from that, he will have no idea if I’m out until 3am working in a bar. Also planning to get a phone jack and a tv point in my room as I’m currently stuck watching DVDs with no updates of Eastenders and a worse-than-everything-else internet connection.
As soon as I can get online properly I can start this freelance typistry too. Is all money…
PS. My internet turned off 6 times writing this entry.

… Is he attempting to pretend that the clock has turned back and you’re like 12 again and need policing 24/7? Living with him is one thing, but he has to realize that you are legally an adult. And soon. And he should realize it before one night realizing that you’re in your room at 3am and ends up calling the police to inform them that his daughter was kidnapped or something.
And I hope the internet connectivity gets better for you soon.

ah, I totally hear you about the internet shutting off. My PC use to do that to me all the time! Every 5 minutes I had to ‘research’ for a signal. So frustrating!
I’m sorry your dad is being so overprotective! He’s probably just not use to having his girl back home. I’m sure he’ll lighten up soon, but as you said, you have your own door so it won’t even matter.

My boyfriend went to bar tending school, but he hasn’t bar tended anywhere other than at his and other friend’s parties. It looks like a fun profession with the potential to make some good money; if I was him, I would totally get into it. In fact, I would love to take the course, myself…

I just noticed about Verity - I’m shocked and disappointed.
Why the hell do people do such things. 
I’m sorry to hear everything’s not going as well as you’d hoped for but hey, who knows you might find an awesome job within a few days and then you won’t have to work with your dad anymore.
I really hope things will turn it to be alright in the end - I don’t want you to be unhappy! *hug*

As one of the only guys placing comments on your site, i have to say that i can relate in some way with you’re dad beeing protective and all that, but on the other hand, you are 19 years old and nearly 20, so he should let go a bit more… and about those rules, maybe he’s trying to pick it up where he left 16 years ago, but he has to realize that you are fully grownup and standing on your own two feet… he’ll probably losen up eventually… time will tell
