So I had a bit of a hiccup in my amazingly happy run with my landlady stealing £315 from my room. It means I was put out a LOT, that was deposit for a studio flat. And the policewoman dealing with the rape case came over today to tell me they won’t be taking him to court, which made me cry and cry but to be honest, I wasn’t shocked. It came as obvious news to me really, so… I guess I kinda had myself ready for it. A lot of rapes reported aren’t solved or charged and it’s ridiculous. But one day he’ll get it back. One day. I just hope nobody else is ever hurt by him.

But considering my other good news of having a new job in a hotel, it means I can live in the hotel accomodation for £30 a week until I save enough to move out. Which will take hardly any time at all considering I’ll be earning around £250 or more a week with all the hours they’re giving me.

Things with John are going great. We went to Thorpe Park on Sunday with Nicola and it was the best day I’ve had in a long time. We’re not in a relationship so to speak but I don’t know, might go well. He’s a true gentleman, treats me very well indeed! I like him a lot but.. well, not getting my hopes up just yet. Men always let you down when you start to give a little faith.

So yeah, it’s 1.30am and I finished work about 45 mins ago. On Saturday I’m working 2pm until 3.30am, a very long day. The rest of the week until then I’m doing 8 - 10 hour shifts. Weekly pay too, nice

So anyhow.. all is still well in the world of Laura. Down £315 is REALLY making me angry, especially that she just randomly walks into my room when I’m out and takes it, thinking I won’t know or something. Complete idiot!

I feel like things are only getting better and better by the day. I am so ecstatic, I can’t describe how happy I am with my life right now. Everything is fresh and new, no more pull backs or put downs. Just me in my prime making the best of my life. Going out, having a great time with Nicola, the best friend a girl could ask for! Spending more time with John, getting to know eachother a lot better. Going to the fair, going to parties, shopping.

I’m moving out on the 8th September providing I can find somewhere as soon as possible into a studio flat of my own. People are willing to help if I can’t quite cover the costs of a deposit straight away which I think is simply amazing! I’m picking up my car tomorrow, after not owning one for 7 months (damn that was hard), I’m back in contact with some of my closest friends from the town I moved from and I’m visiting my mum this weekend before I drive to London to go to a themepark with my friends! I’ve got new clothes, new shoes, even a new hairstyle! I put caramel coloured highlights in and it looks so much better, a nice new look!

Also, I got a new phone! Oh man.. everything is just new, fresh, amazing. A whole new start. A whole new me!

I’m so so so so so so so so so so happy today.

I won’t go into much detail because I’m all explained out, I’ve told so many people about my fantastic day! But basically, I feel amazing and I’m cherishing this moment for a long long time, not often days like this swing round.

Also - I cashed in my cheque today for £1930. Hooraaaaay! It’ll be with me by Friday, and then I’ll buy a car! Ya!

Lots of random little updates in my life lately, nothing spectacular until I get this compensation money. But small changes to suit a bigger plan. So yeah, the police called me giving me more information. Apparantly this guy probably won’t be charged because it was just us too and he’s told them it was consentual sex. Just because I wasn’t beaten black and blue, they can’t prove rape. So someone has to actually lose a limb nowadays for it to go anywhere? They have lots of evidence in small parts but none of it is “strong” enough to take it further.

That isn’t official, it could still get somewhere. But the way these police people talk to me, ugh. I feel like sueing them and the papers for ruining my life. This is why women don’t report awful tragedies like this. They keep it quiet, because they’re made to feel ashamed and like whores, like they deserved it. It makes me sick.

I’ve been spending time with Nicola lately, having great times! She makes me smileeee I met her friend too who is also nice! It’s good to get out meeting people, it’s hard when you move to a new place! Next week off to Taunton for five days which will be fantastic. And Sam and I worked things out again, lots of new boundaries and understandings. I’m hoping it’ll work. Yeah. I won’t say much more, I know how I feel in my heart

On other news, I’m handing in my notice in the next few days. I’ve written it out but changed my mind as I wasn’t sure on when I’d get the compensation money. But I’ll be handing it in before I leave for Taunton. If not, I’ll hand it in when I return.

Life is about to take a completely different turn for me in the next few months. It’s exciting though. Who knows what’ll happen.

So I got a quote from the compensation company. Finally! £1900. It’s the bottom of the scale for my type of injury but I guess it’s okay. I did expect more considering the hassle I had to deal with but it’s better than no money at all, or a thousand!

With £1900 it means I can finaly get myself a new car. The cheque will arrive in two to three weeks. I’ll pay off a month of rent straight away which means any income for four weeks is mine, which is good news! It’s easier to save that way. Then a second hand car from a garage somewhere with a few months insurance paid off up front. I’m happy about this whole thing.

Having a car will make going back to work so much easier. I don’t want to work in this town, I can’t stand it. With a car I can work further out without worrying about busses running late or crowded trains. Hooray for good news, if only every day I had news like this! I’d be a very happy Laura
